Neuropsychological Rehabilitation Center LARMIS
Neuropsychological services since 1984
Larmis offers neuropsychological assessments and rehabilitation services for children and adolescents in English. We provide also consultations for parents and schools.
Neuropsychological assessment
The goal of the neuropsychological assessment is to evaluate child’s cognitive functions as well as daily functioning and development in general. Cognitive functions refer to individuals abilities related to information processing and include domains such as attention, executive functions, learning, memory, processing speed, and verbal and visuospatial abilities. We assess learning difficulties, readiness for school, level of cognitive development, and neuropsychiatric syndromes (eg. ADHD, autism spectrum, and Tourette), and both acquired (such as head injuries) and developmental neurological disorders. The assessment is needed in order to make informed decisions about cognitive difficulties and forms of support needed in family and school.

Neuropsychological rehabilitation
The goal of the neuropsychological rehabilitation is to improve cognitive skills and learning strategies in children with learning difficulties (eg. dyslexia or learning difficulty in math), neuropsychiatric or neurological disorders (eg. autism spectrum disorders or Tourette). We will also help children and adolescents to improve their ability to cope in daily functioning, social skills and to help in developing self-efficacy, positive self-image and motivation. The aims of the rehabilitation are always decided together with child, parents, physician and/or school. Typically, neuropsychological rehabilitation takes place once a week, and lasts for one or two years. Also, short term (5-10 times) rehabilitations are available.
